Product Review: Opps :S

So, as you may or may not know, I work part-time at Boots (it's a great job btw, I love it!), and today, as I was half cleaning and half playing with the testers, I picked up a 17 eye liner pen in brown and it leaked on me. I kid you not it looked as if an octopus had inked me... It turned blue and clung to my skin like super permanent marker!!! I ran to the No.7 counter and I used two No.7 make-up wipes from the tester pack, some of the No.7 eye make-up remover tester and it did nothing more than spread the eye-liner/ink further around my hand! :S I even tried some nail polish remover! In the end I had to run up stair to the toilets and literally scrub a layer of skin off with a washing up sponge with a scourer side to it. The picture doesn't show it very well, but parts of my hands are still blue and most of my fingers still have a grey tinge to them... So, yeah, I kinda fear for anyone who has bought the product and actually used in on their face as intended! Haha! Hopefully the tester we had was just 'faulty' in some way and that the stain is not true of the product, else it'd be like tattooing your liner on! Oh well, at least you know it will last the day... ;)

Every other 17 range product I've used has been fine. Just as long as you don't slip I personally reckon it could be a great eye-liner; and as long as you don't mind it being there for maybe a day or two... or maybe more.

Hair talk

Quite like this new darker ginger hair colour... I did try to dye it back to brunette but it failed and my hair now fades from ginger to brown at the tips, but overall is a darker ginger to what it was before. But I kinda like it like this for now.

Soak it in Sunday! (product review and ramblings)

Sundays are the only day that I'm guaranteed to have off from work (during the holidays when I'm home from uni). So we either go out and do stuff as a family or we stay at home and do our own things. Today I woke up rather lazily... I got up brushed my teeth than crawled back into bed and started to read! But I hate not getting up and making my bed; if I don't I feel as if the day hasn't started and that I've wasted it all away. So I ran myself a lovely hot bath and pampered myself, turning it into a 'Soak it in Sunday'. And here are all the products I used to do just that...

(The products are actually in order of use from left to right)

I bought the Soap And Glory stuff quite recently and I love it! The 'Scrub Your Nose In It' is the best exfoliant ever, it has a menthol tingling sensation to it and leaves my skin feeling smooth, revived and fresh. And the 'Glad Hair Day - Intensive Conditioner' not only smells amazing, it feels it in my hair. I also just a coconut mouse and the Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends leave in cream to help with my very draw straw like split ends. And oh my! Together, the shampoo, conditioner, mouse and leave-in cream (and the heat protection spray used when I blow dried my hair) has left me with new hair. And I even get wafts of fruity/florally smells every time I move my hair thanks to the S&G conditioner! Of course I still have some split ends, but to me they have noticeable reduced in appearance and my hair feels super soft and easy to run my fingers through and it still has a natural shine to it. I am sure that the more I use these products the better the results will be, but for the first time of using most of the products, and all together too, I have been very impressed.

I used the Sanctuary Revive morning wash as it has an orangey smell to it that's just divine, and whilst I washed in that I left a mask of 'Scrub Your Nose In It' on my face and the Herbal Essences shampoo in my hair to give them longer to work. Then I let the conditioner soak into my hair as I used the gloves, which are a pair of exfoliating gloves that I picked up in Superdrug the other day for 10p in a clearance! They are fantastic to use all over to help reduce dull looking skin, prevent streaks from self tanning, reduce a fair number of visable ingrown hairs on legs from epilating/shaving, and finally scratch that itch on your back that your nails can't quite get... I like how awake and refreshed I feel all over when I finish with a quick scrub down with the gloves; ready to moisturise my legs with my Veet Hair Minimising lotion.

After all that pampering, I blow dried my hair, forced myself not to put make-up on so as to let my skin breathe after all that attention, and then sat down and enjoyed a brunch of poached eggs of toast. Can a lazy Sunday at home get any more self indulging?! Almost...

My sister and I then modelled some old clothes in the garden so Ma can put them on Ebay! Which means I now have more coat hangers freed up to start putting some of my other clothes back into my wardrobe rather than cramming them into my draws. Ahhh... that reminds me! I cannot wait to get my stuff into my room at my new flat at uni in September; super large wardrobe and double bed! I've never had a double bed before!!! Heaven! Once I have decorated the place I will have to post some pictures, for it will be amazing! Fairy lights, floral/delicate bedding, my decorative tea cup and saucer I used as a tea light holder, and all my other super cute girly possessions! Haha! Oh to think I used to a little emo kid at 13...

Fashion loves - Jack Wills addiction!

I love a good sale with Jack Wills, and I usually buy skirts, shirts, crew jumpers, and I've got a gilet and a coat too... In a word; addicted. I'm totally addicted. It's good ol' fashioned, country, English, tailored clothing with a modern twist; it's smart and flattering.

I have never bought any underwear from JWs before until now! I've always wanted the classic pink and blue stripped underwear and it was £19 for both in the sale!

I also got the most gorgeous pair of sunglasses ever!!!!!

Fashion loves

Today I wanted to show you two of my guilty pleasures, and by 'guilty' I mean, I  really shouldn't love it but I cannot help it.

It's my rabbit fur coat... (Please don't hate me!)

(Sorry if this offends any one, that is not my intention at all.)
I bought it in Camden Market not long ago and I was told it's vintage (but I could have easily have been lied too), and I just could not have not bought it. It is the most ridiculously perfect thing I have ever bought and cost me £105. Loads of people will hate me for it too. But know this, I'm so in love with vintage fashion that that love includes the crazy things like fur coats and crocodile handbags etc. If it had been fox fur, however, I may not have bought it, because I know that the fox (both Red and Arctic) do not living in as much abundance as rabbits do; foxes are too rare to wear. This is the only fur item I own, and I don't plan on buying any more. Nor do I promote killing animals for fur in the modern day, rather I do promote loving the fur items that are already out there so that animal didn't die for no reason.

Another, probably less guilty pleasure, is this yellow jumper...

(sorry this is the only picture I have of it right now)

Some 'people' took a British Heart foundation bag for charity off of someone's door step and ripped open the bag beyond fixing it up and took nearly all the clothes in it, only leaving this jumper and a couple of other things down our alley way. My ma found it all and collected it up to take to the charity shop but not before I claimed the jumper and asked for Mum to wash it for me! It's size 18-20(UK) and it's huge, but everyone needs a big comfy jumper. It's like having one of my Dad's jumpers that I used to wear all the time as a child whenever I was cold. I love to match this jumper up with skinny jeans for a trip into town or to uni/college, or with my H&M black stretch tube mini skirt and tights for a more comfortable/easier to bend in outfit. Big jumpers can tone down any outfit, and add a sense of 'comfy' to anything; some sees you in an oversized jumper, they instantly think "she looks comfy, and snuggly!" and you don't look like a 'chav' as we call them here by having to wear tracksuit bottoms and vests to get comfy, just grab a stretchy skirt and tight and your fave oversized jumper and you still look cute! Problemo solved ;)

Fashion loves - from a Friday night out to a day look...

This outfit is great because with the glittery top, and some black heels it's great for a night out... Take the glittery top off, tuck in a black vest, and wear some black sandals and some casual bracelet and you're set for a hot day out at the beach or around town with friends.

I absolutely love the crosses and the skulls in this outfit, it adds that dark gothic element to a rather ordinal casual set, but without being too obvious or too heavily done. Keep your make-up light in the day; vintage liquid or gel liner flicks along the upper lash line or a light brown hued smoky eye look with a simply shiny pink gloss works great. Add some extra/darker kohl eye-liner to your water-line and deepen the colour of your lipstick too, for the a night look.

(I will add more picture later when I can take some close up in good light)

Product review - Balance Me: rose otto intensive lip salve

With ingredients such as shea butter, unrefined beeswax, rosehip, geranium, patchuoli, lavendar, ylang ylang and many other beautiful and natural ingredients, it's not surprising why I'm utterly in love with this beautiful product!

I bought Glamour mag today before we headed to the beach, and inside was a free gift of Balance Me lip salve, which came in very handy today in all the salt air and harsh winds.

It's not too sticky, it's not too slippy (like Vaseline can be, especially in the heat), and it's soothing, plumping and moisturising all at once. I love it!

It's definitely something I would recommend, it's helped my lips survive through the hot and harsh weather today. And the geranium in the salve is DIVINE! I love how relaxing the geranium makes me feel from just smelling it. It's like aromatherapy and lip therapy all in one!

Product review - Bourjois glitter gel nail polish

Today, I went to the beach and I decided to keep my toe nails glittery after Friday night out.

I put two coats of the Bourjois nail polish in 'rose' on first, before putting two coats of the glitter gel polish. I'd advice on putting a manicure/fleshy/pale colour on as your base coat, for two reasons:

1) The peachy colour underneath the glitter enhances the colour of the glitter; it intensifies the purple hue of the polish.
2) An actually base coat will give you too many layers. From experience of wearing it with a base coat on my finger nails I know that it's going to chip and peel off very easily.

So now I've told you how to wear I suppose I ought to tell you why you should wear it!

The glitter in the polish holds it together nicely, making it longer wearing. So it's great to wear at the beach with all the abrasive salt water and sand and rocks and shells.

It just adds that bit of 'omph' to your whole beach look, as we all know how 'icky' and grubby we feel after having the sea-side wind blow at our hair and dry out our skin all day. Plus, it shine and sparkles so much in the sun and shallow waters that your friends will notice just how amazing your feet look.

In a sentence; it adds some magic to your beach day.

Well, I've decided to start a bit of a beauty and fashion blog, where I tell you all about the products I've used, why I love or hate them, and the fashion items I've bought or want to buy...

I'm currently an unnatural ginger, and I openly support the ginger community and believe their species needs to rekindled... However the colour does wash me out, and I'm having to go back to a colour closer to my natural colour. And as summer has finally arrived I think going back to brunette will fit in nicely with the summer trend.

I'm currently a university student at Sheffield Hallam, so I may not be posting updates EVERY day. Although my degree is in healthcare, I'm obsessed with fashion, make-up and all things related; I'm a gigantic girly girl!

("Hello! This is crazy Lily here!")
